Beginner / NEWCOMER

We were all beginners once. Our members encompass a wide variety of abilities; from those just getting into road cycling, competitive racers and those getting in 7,000+ miles per year.

We have a large membership which means there are plenty of people to ride with.

You should have a basic level of fitness that means you are capable of cycling 35 to 40 miles.

If you have any doubts about your fitness, please consult your doctor before taking part.

Benefits of joining a cycling club

When you become a member of the club you also join Cycling Ireland and so benefit from cycling insurance. That is reassuring when you are out on the road and allows you to concentrate on enjoying the social aspect of cycling.

  • Cycling Ireland personal injury and 3rd party damage/liability insurance
  • Improved health
  • Participate in one of fastest growing sports
  • Learn from experienced cyclists
  • Group cycling

Can I try before I join?

Joining a cycling club can be daunting. What if I can’t keep up? What if I don’t like it?

You can have 3 free club runs with the Club before you need to join.

For information on how to cycle with us or how to join the club, please contact

How much does it cost?

The final beginner’s run with Foyle Cycling Club today. Many thanks to the club members who generously gave the time, patience and experience, which was invaluable to us and very much appreciated. It is a pleasure to meet with so many new friends and to ride with such a friendly and accommodating club. Many thanks for a great experience.
