One of the best sportives i done this year.Totally agree with all the positive comments above;challenging route, great hospitally, especially from the girls at the welcoming food stops, excellent marshalling at all major junctions, flag wavers on the scary descents and we even had an outrider escorting us through all the roundabouts at the end of this great sportive.
Well done to all at foyle cc.

Once again Foyle CC have managed to host a superb event with an excellent course, marshalling, signage and food stops.

I am a bit disappointed with the negative comments of Joe Barr especially in view of the fact that he has organised events himself in the past and would know how much effort and commitment is required from volunteers in the planning and on the day.

While the comments appear to centre upon safety concerns when you analise it they actually concentrate upon the fact that he was not ushered around the course with a lead car to herald his approach.

Many of us participate in a great many cyclosportives and many of us are not blessed with Joe's exceptional cycling capabilities. As a consequence of this many of us have never seen a lead car except in the car park. This has never deterred us nor have we ever felt unsafe because of it.

I have participated in this event many times and it is a favourite of mine for many reasons not least because of how well it is run.

The feedback statistics for the relevant complaints of Joe speak for themselves: 81% of respondents thought the support ,marshalls, vehicles and first aid were "Excellent" and the remaining 19% thought they were very good.Joe mustn't have filled in the form because his complaint doesn't register. On the road marking 73% thought they were excellent.19% very good or 8% average/below average.

I think Joe's comments are out of line with the views of the overwhelming majority. I hope Foyle CC continue to promote this fine event.Well done to all concerned.

Many thanks to Foyle cycling club for a very well organised event. I have been meaning to do Inishowen for a good few years but finally got round to travelling up from Galway to do it this year. The photo's are great and my agonies on Mamore got captured for posterity. Need to round up a few more bodies and get back up for next year

Congratulations to Foyle CC for what was in my opinion a superbly organised event. Joe must have been unlucky because our experience was of excellent signage and strategic stewarding on treacherous descents/junctions. The hospitality of the host club was second to none and the slide show of photographs provides us all with memories of a challenging day. Thanks to all concerned.

best event I've done, organisation was 1st class, appreciated the guys with caution flags to warn of the risky decents. From what I can remember there were marshalls at almost every major junction, but as was said it's not a race so obey the rules of the road. See you next year.

First of all i would like to say that this was my first event and would like to thank Foyle Cycling Club and all the other people involved for making this a a great day . So when me and my mate from work entered the event it was registered as a 50 mile run . Then it was apparently changed to a 60 mile run for some reason, THEN on the day the turning for the 50/60 mile run was not marked outside Buncranna so we headed off over the Illies i think . which actually made it a 68 mile run . So as you can guess this was an interesting if not amusing day . Anyway I will prepare better for next year and intend to do a run each month up til then if the weather holds out.
So just a wee note to say thanks and remember new comers are new comers and to agree with the above comment signs are very important .
Thanks Peter Vail

One of the events I enjoy most in each years calander, however I find myself having to voice my opinion on some safety aspects, firstly the presence of a lead car then its abrupt absence. ALL riders needs some protection especially on some of the very narrow roads we have to ride on. There has to be a lead car to create an awarness to other road users that there is an event happening on that particular section of road that day, when we as riders gets the confidence that this is happening it is less dangerous but then when it dissapears with no warning or repacement and you continue with the mind set that the car is in front makeing the awarness. The ovious will eventually happen. Other keys areas which lacked marshalls were major road junctions and passing through Moville which was highly conjested and no apperant sinage to inform people of what was on the road ??
In short more sinage - not road markings alone as may riders also went of course
Lead car in front of the event regardless which riders that will be and remain as lead car until the complete event is finished, We all understand that in sportives of this nature we must abide by normal road rules - however in the interest of safety and respect for riders who attend the event more focus needs placed on these key aspects.
If a rider ends up in hospital or worse then all the fantastic effort of the ladys who provide the great food dont get to see their hard work get enjoyed by all who should.
Not a witch hunt, just needs sorting out lads
